Want to farm the best gear in Diablo 4?Legendary Aspects and Unique items are incredibly important when crafting a powerful build inDiablo 4, so you’ll want to know the best ways to farm gear. Fortunately, there are many quick ways to get the strongest gear, with high-level Nightmare Dungeons and endgame target-farming methods providing easy access to incredibly powerful loot.
In this guide, we’ll break down the best methods for farming gear inDiablo 4, which isnow out on Xbox Game Pass, covering various ways to target-farm specific item types and other good methods for getting your hands on Legendary and Unique items.
This guide is tailored towards higher-level players who have reached level 50, completed the campaign and the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon, and progressed onto World Tier 3. Before this point, it isn’t really worth target-farming or worrying about gear too much, as it’ll all become obsolete upon reaching World Tier 3 anyway.

How to farm Legendary and Unique gear in Diablo 4
There are four main methods that most players take to farm Legendary and Unique gear in Diablo 4:Helltides, Whispers, Nightmare Dungeons, andMurmuring Obols. Helltides and Whispers are generally considered the best, as they allow you to target farm. Target farming means you can hunt for specific types of gear that you might need, rather than relying on completely random drops.
Helltides
Helltides are generally considered the best method for target farming in Diablo 4. However, they are only available in World Tiers 3 and 4, so you must first complete the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon.
Enemies in Helltide areas dropAberrant Cinders, which you can exchange for Tortured Chests that drop high-tier items. These chests feature an increased spawn rate for Legendaries, and you’ll often get multiples. It’s worth sticking around and seeing what all you can earn from them. So, if you’re playing through these events, collect as many Aberrant Cinders as possible. You’re also likely to earn more Legendary loot in the process of farming these cinders, too.
Whispers
Whispersare bounties that you can complete across theDiablo 4 mapafter completing the campaign. These are available in all World Tiers, so you don’t need to wait until reaching the higher difficulties.
Whispers aren’t as efficient as Helltides, as the reward caches focus on randomised gear types, rather than the more specific Helltide Chests.

Nightmare Dungeons
Nightmare Dungeonstend to shower you with loot as you cut through the demon hordes within. Legendaries drop often from the monsters as you make your way through, and Uniques can also appear if you get lucky. On completion of the Nightmare Dungeon, you’ll also get a guaranteed Legendary (sometimes upgraded to a Unique).
While Nightmare Dungeons don’t allow for easy target farming, leaving you to be reliant on random loot drops, they are great for generally collecting Legendary and Unique items while earning XP. If you’re after Legendaries and Unique that you can scrap for crafting materials, rather than items necessary for your build, then we’d recommend doing Nightmare Dungeons to get powerful items whilelevelling up fast.
Murmuring Obols
Murmuring Obolsare a currency that you get from completing World Events. You can take them to the Purveyor of Curiosities in any hub town, where you can trade for gear of any type that you might need. It’s always a gamble, so the rewards are hit-or-miss, but if you get lucky, it might grant you a Legendary item.
Murmuring Obols aren’t great as a dedicated source of target farming, but make sure to use any that you’ve picked up while completing events for Whispers or those that you find within Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides to get a little bit of extra loot upon returning to town.

Diablo 4 Legendary gear farming locations
If you are looking for Legendary and Unique gear at earlier levels while playing through the campaign, many of the options listed above won’t be available yet. While gear farming isn’t necessary at lower levels, since you’ll constantly be upgrading on the path to level 50, we do have a few locations that you can focus on if you’re in need of a quick upgrade.
Below, you’ll find a list of places that offer quick, easy options for farming primarily because they’re fast, full ofEliteenemies, or reset frequently enough that you can complete them over and over again.
The Frozen Tunnel Cellar
In some cases, Cellars alone can be strong enough to farm because they’re incredibly easy to Master, and again, leaving the Cellar and exiting the game will reset them. One place to try this isThe Frozen Tunnel Cellarto the southwest ofKyovashad, as you can often trigger an activity inside of it that grants aGreater Radiant Chestif you manage to Master it. And, as a bonus, it’s also near a World Event, so you can cycle these two locations and farm as much as you want. The Frozen Tunnel is one example that you can access early in the game, but numerous Cellars offer similar farming opportunities.
Ancient Syphon World Event
Anica’s Claim
Animus Dungeonshome a ton of Elites, which, in turn, increase your chances of earning higher-tier gear. One of the earliest you’ll find is Anica’s Claim, in the Fractured Peaks area east of Kyovashad. This one is particularly easy to clear, and you’ll also encounter at least ten Elites, all of whom have a chance to drop Legendary gear. Dungeon enemies will respawn after leaving and coming back. But if that doesn’t work right away, you can also try leaving and returning or do the multiplayer respawn trick to continue to farm for Legendaries. And remember, you can also find a World Event to clear in the interim if the dungeon doesn’t seem to reset immediately.

Radiance Field Cemetery World Event
We’ve already suggested that World Events paired with Cellars make for easy farms, but some World Events alone are straight-up excellent farms. TheRadiance Field World CemeteryHold Your Groundevent is a fantastic way to farm for Legendary loot for levels 20-35. It’s a short event that tends to reset quickly, but if you need to accelerate the process even more, you can try logging out and back in again. It may not drop Legendaries every time, but it’s so short that it’s worth farming.
